About My P90X Blog

Hi! I’m Dylan Bredengerd, and welcome to my P90X blog. I’m just a regular guys who wants to break the cycle of unhealthy living in my own life in addition to developing more self-discipline, feeling confident, and looking great!

What is P90X?

From the Beach Body website:

P90X is a revolutionary system of 12 sweat-inducing, muscle-pumping workouts, designed to transform your body from regular to ripped in just 90 days. You’ll also receive a comprehensive 3-phase nutrition plan, specially designed supplement options, a detailed fitness guide, a calendar to track your progress, online peer support, and much more. Your personal trainer, Tony Horton, will keep you engaged every step of the way, and you won’t believe your results!

Why Did I Choose the P90X Fitness Program?

In short? I’m impatient. I hate “the gym.” And I love a great value. P90X is all that rolled into one–the perfect fit for me! I want to do it at home by myself. I don’t want to spend $30 to $50 per month on a gym membership and then have to drag myself every day to a place I hate going just to begin to see any results a dozen months from now. I don’t want to have to become an expert on which exercises to do in order to work which muscle groups. I want it fast: P90X takes 90 days to see results. I want it cheap: Get into P90X for about $220 (program, resistance bands, chin-up bar). And I want to do it at home: No gyms; I work out in my living room! And yes, I’m willing to let it kick my butt to get all of that!

Sure, 90 days to see the results seems too good to be true and I wasn’t going to fall for the fitness equivalent of a get-rich-quick scheme. So I did some research and talked to a couple of people I know who do P90X. I’m convinced of two things: (1) It will kick your butt, and (2) The results are real!

Why P90X Now?

I’m 34 years old and I really wanted to make my 30s the decade in which I got myself into shape. Frankly, I’m tired of watching America–but mostly myself– get fatter, so I decided to reject my “eating-for-entertainment” lifestyle by doing P90X. I’m also alarmed by the many Americans who transition from middle age into senior adulthood only to spend the “golden years” battling a barrage of health problems, many of which could have been avoided by having engaged in a healthier lifestyle along the way. I do not want that to be me!

Why This Blog?

Two Reasons:

  1. To let you check out the P90X experience in real time. Follow a regular guy who’s doing P90X and get his take on the experience as it unfolds. Every day I’ll post a brief blog entry and share what I did, how I did, how I feel, and what I think about all of it. That’s pretty much what I was looking for when I was checking out P90X.
  2. To create accountability. I’m doing this solo, and I admit that I’m not a very disciplined person. So, to help create accountability I’ve decided to tell everyone I know that I’m going to start P90X and let them track me through this process. I can’t back out now!

My wife and I leave for Hilton Head, South Carolina on Wednesday, September 30 for our yearly anniversary trip to the beach. I WILL have a “beach body” by then! C’mon! I can endure anything for 90 days to reach that goal!

My theme for the next 90 days…
Start sucking it up so I can stop sucking it in!
